Volcanoes national park is found in the northwest of Rwanda at the border of Uganda and Congo. It’s one of the first national parks to be created and gazetted in 1925 in Africa at the edge border of Virunga national park which is a habitat to the five of eight volcanoes of the Virunga including the Muhambura, Gahinga and Sabinyo.

It’s located on a land of 160sqkm covered in a rain forest and bamboo. A home to the golden monkeys which are rarely primate species small in size with bright fur coats which contrast with the lush green and can make a good picture.

Although there other activities in volcanoes national park including bird watching, sightseeing, and nature walk, tree species Gorilla trekking as the main activity of the park and many more.

Itinerary for your 2 Days Golden Monkey tracking tour

Day 1 :» Transfer to the Volcanoes National Park

Wake up early morning and have your heavy breakfast. Our guide will pick you up from your hotel or area of residence, drive to the northwest of Rwanda as you enjoy the experience of rolling hills and land well you take picture at this beautifully scenery.

You will arrive at your accommodation, check in, have lunch and enjoy the beautifully scenery of mountains and volcanoes as well. Have your dinner at the lodge and sleep over in order to prepare for the next day activity.

Day 2 :» Golden Monkey tracking

After your early morning heavy breakfast, our English speaking guide will drive you to the Kinigi park headquarters where you will meet other trekkers for a briefing about golden monkey trekking and also to meet the game ranger by 7am.

Drive outside the park to the trail-heads of golden monkeys you will enjoy the views of mountain scenery into the park as well you trek the golden monkeys.

The golden monkeys live near the edge of the park in the bamboo forest. When you encounter the golden monkeys you will only be allowed to spend 1 hour with them, see how they feed, play, jump from tree to tree although there known to be shy animals.

The habituation has helped them to learn their dailay life by allowing trekkers to visit them. With their amazing colours, this will give you a good picture and more learn about their lives.

After your experience with the golden monkey trekking you will go back to the lodge, have lunch, check out and then be driven back to Kigali airport or area of residence or even your drop-off place.
