1DAY NGAMBA ISLAND

Depart Kampala at 7:00am. Heading to Entebbe, you will meet your tour guide at water front club where the speed boats are parked. You will be shortly briefed about the trip by the guide, here you will be provided with the life guard jacket and raincoat for your ride to the island. At 9:00am, you will get on board for a slightly bumpy ride as you cross the equator on water, here you will see a few birds hunt for fish in the lake, and neighboring islands of Nganba Island.
You will be welcomed by one of the sanctuary staff and a flock of weaver birds. After introducing himself, your guide will lead you to a complimentary breakfast that is tea/coffee and a snack. As you wait for the second feeding of the chimpanzees. At 11:00am you will head to the beautiful scenery of the chimpanzee habitat, on your way you will see some of the trees that act as herbs for the chips for example the luwawu tree that is a dewormer for them. You will also see the equipments that were confiscated from poachers that were used to hunt the chimps.
You will then view the chimpanzees from a platform created for the visitors, after sanitizing your hands, you will participate in feeding them as you hear the tales about the different chimpanzees. You will get to observe their behavior and they too will do the same. Here you can take pictures of your favorite chimpanzee and also create memories. You will also be shown their holding area, where they sleep and also have their breakfast from.
From there, you will proceed to the garden where volunteers take part in growing the food for the chimps. You will also be shown the record keeping office, where each chimp has its’ records, every single day. From the office, you will get to see the food store where the food from the mainland is kept, the supply is made every five days. You will then see a demonstration of how the chimps are fed while in the holding area. You will then be treated to a delicious lunch freshly prepared by the Chef.
After your meal, you can do other activities of your choice like sunbathe, play volleyball and also take more pictorials. At 2:30 the boat will be ready to take you back to the mainland.
The trip costs USD88. This includes transport expenses, food while at the island and entrance fees.
