This 2 Days Chimpanzee trekking and Canopy Walk tour takes you Nyungwe Forest National Park. Nyungwe is a natural rain forest located in the southwest part of Rwanda. It’s believed to be ones of Africa’s oldest forest staying evergreen through the ice age filled with exciting biodiversity covering up 1000 Square kilometres.
It protects the habituated chimpanzees and 12 primate species like the 400 strong troop of habituated Ruwenzori black and white Columbus monkeys and 300 bird species 75 different species of mammals.
There different activities at the forest like Nature wildlife experience, hiking or even biking, canopy walk, bird watching, relaxing at the Isumo water falls, culture walks, and many more. It’s one of the shortest trips in the capital city of Rwanda
Wake up early morning and have your breakfast, our guide or driver will pick you up at the hotel or area of residence or your preferred pic-up point. He will take you through a briefing of the whole trip to Nyungwe. This trip offers a once lifetime to experience the wild chimpanzees.
The 2 Days Chimpanzee trekking and Canopy Walk tour will take you approximately 5 hours and you will have a stopover to visit the ethnographic museum in Huye / Butara for the opportunity to learn about the culture of Rwanda and the people of Rwanda.
Afterwards the encounter to the journey continues to Nyungwe Forest National park where you arrive, check in and have your lunch and then prepare for the canopy walk. During the course of this activity you spot out different bird species, primates like the black and blue monkeys, plant species.
You are also entitled to enjoying the relaxation at the Isumo water falls after the canopy walk, then return to the lodge for refreshment and dinner.

After your early morning breakfast, our experienced guide will take you to the park centre where you will meet the game ranger and have a short briefing about chimpanzee trekking guidelines.
You will head to the forest, it takes 2 hours to locate the habituated chimpanzees and have an encounter with them, see how they swing, nest, feed, scream to locate their members, and other behaviours as you make observation.
You will be allowed to spend one hour with them as you trek, you will also see different tree species and spot out a number of bird species.
After the tracking, you will return to the lodge for lunch, check out and drive back to Kigali to your hotel or departure.
