This 3 Days Mount Sabinyo hiking adventure takes to the great Sabinyo mountain through Kisoro town.

Sabinyo, a name derived from the Kinyarwanda word tooth, means “old man’s tooth” because of the resembles of worn teeth in a gum line. It is believed to be the oldest volcano with a swamp crater of about 180 metres diameter at its summit.

You will enjoy the sights and endemic vegetation, the mountain’s steep walls and most spectacular view of Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo intersection. The mountain lies in three different National Parks that is; Virunga National Park in Congo, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Mgahinga National Park in Uganda.

Your 3 Days Mount Sabinyo Hiking Itinerary

Day 1:» Travel to Kisoro town

After your breakfast, embark on your journey to Kisoro about an 8 hours drive. We shall have a stopover at the Uganda Equator for photographs in Masaka town and then continue to Mbarara for lunch. You will then check in your accommodation and prepare for the next day hike.

Day 2:» Sabyinyo Volcano hiking Adventure

You will be picked from your accommodation to start off your day adventure. You will drive through the agricultural landscape to the visitors centre Ntebeko. Your adventure starts here, ascend the mountain as you see different species of birds and endemic vegetation, bamboo and lichen forest towards the top. You will witness the fascinating thrill of looking down to three countries at the same time. The trek takes a full day.

Day 3:» Travel back to Kampala

After your breakfast, we shall return to Kampala and have lunch en-route.
